About the event

Black Voices Cornwall is hosting a immersive printing workshop. You'll have the opportunity to design and print onto tote and jewellery bags using African inspired colours, prints and symbols. You'll then be able to take your uniquely printed bags home to show off or gift to loved ones.

The workshop will be led by the fabulos artist, Maria Cockle. We only ask that you come ready to immerse yourself into a part of African culture and leave with community connections and of course, beautifully printed bags!

This event is kindly funded by Seasalt Cornwall.

For the last hour of the workshop we are going to contribute to Wildwork's brand new project, 'Hello Stranger'. Led by artist Bec Applebee, we'll be printing our African inspired designs onto recylced fabric patches, which will be sewn together to create a panel on the Story Shelter. This tent will be made up of multiple panels from various communtiy groups and individuals across Cornwall to represent the diverse people across the Duchy.

We are so excited to get arty and inspired with you!!

Please note: There are limited spaces available, please only secure a ticket if you can definitely attend! If you can no longer attend, please email Abi on events@blackvoicescornwall.org as soon as possible so we can make your ticket available for someone else.

How to find us:

The address is: The School Room, Penryn Methodist Church, The Terrace, Penryn TR10 8EH.

The School Room is just behind the chapel building on the former Penryn Methodist Church site in Penryn town centre. It has a red door and signage outside, you can access this down the left side of the chapel. The workshop will be hosted in the Art Room, which is signposted as you enter the building.

The nearest car park is Saracen Car Park, Penryn TR10 8LW which is just opposite The School Room. However, the car park is only small so if there's no spaces, there's Permarin Rd, Penryn TR10 8BJ which is a 3 minute walk to The School Room.

The nearest bus stop is the Penryn Spar and the Seven Stars bus stops, which are on Lower Market Street and just opposite the Methodist church.
